It was January 1985 when I stood in the Garden Tomb area and walked down to the tomb to look inside.  The Lord’s presence was real and I was blessed by being there.  We would go up into the garden and view the hill called Golgotha, where we saw three crosses and could see the shape of a skull in the hillside.

We would then go to a place that was set aside for a communion service and I would lead my group there and with the help of two other clergy, lead the communion service.  What an uplifting experience.  The tomb area on one side and the hill called Golgotha on the other side of us as we experienced communion.  What a wonderful time.  And then came the testimonies from those seated there.  Testimonies of their love for Jesus.   Testimonies of what Jesus had done for them.  Testimonies of the love of Jesus for the world that He would die and rise again to provide new life for all.

As I consider my past, the present, and my future I recall the words of Dr. Forrest who said, “for the past I have happy memories, for the present I have peace of mind, and for the future the best is yet to come.”  The best is yet to come because Jesus died and rose again to bring new life and great hope to each person who believes in Him.
